Description
Edgars Vinters (1919-2014)
Autumn foliage. 1990. Cardboard, oil, 95×70
The composition showcases the vibrant beauty of nature during the fall season.
The dominant feature of the painting is the foliage itself, depicted in various shades of red, orange, and yellow. The artist has skillfully captured the essence of autumn through the rich and warm tones used in the color palette. The leaves appear to be in the midst of their transformation, with some still clinging to branches while others have already fallen, creating a sense of movement and dynamism.
Edgars Vinters is working in oil, watercolor and monotype techniques. He paints landscapes in different seasons and flowers. In 1970 the significant place in his creativity takes city landscapes.
As a ten-year-old boy he met with the popular pastelist Voldemrs Irbe, who detected the boys talent, taught him the basics of pastel painting and opened his eyes for the beauty of nature in the alleged minor details.
A porcelain factory engaged him to paint a series of porcelain plates for president Krlis Ulmanis.
After he had taken his high-school-diploma, he joined the Latvian Art Academy and until 1944. During the Soviet period, his exhibitions were confined to Riga and other cities of the Latvian Socialist Soviet Republic. After the liberation of Latvia in 1991 his art increasingly found attention and appreciation. Periodically exhibitions were organized in Latvia, later beginning in 1993 in UK and the USA and from 2006 in Germany. Increasingly his works are presented by the art trade worldwide. During a state visit by Turkish President Abdullah Gl on April 2, 2013 in Latvia, the Latvian President Andris Brzi presented to the Turkish presidential couple as a gift a painting of Edgars Vinters. 2009 Edgars Vinters in recognition of his lifetime achievement was awarded the Order of the Three Stars by President Valdis Zatlers
He demonstrated great talent as a draughtsman from an early age, and developed his painting style at the Latvian Academy of Arts (1940-1944).
Edgars Vinters was working as a drawing teacher in comprehensive schools in Riga.
