Description
This elegant table was made in Hebei province near Beijing with classic Chinese features, including the waisted top, horse hoof feet and subtly curved stretchers at each side. The original dark finish has worn in places particularly on the top surface, leaving a beautiful, characterful patina.
It was produced during the mid 19th century and originally would have been used for serving food and drink or as a modest display surface in a Chinese home. Today it makes a nicely proportioned small console table, perfect for displaying an oriental lamp, flower vases or ornaments.
