Description
Confucius is an original artwork realized by Victor Golubew (1878-1945). Original woodcut print on paper, realized on early-20th century, hand signed in pencil on the lower right corner. Passepartout included: cm 30×23. Good conditions. Victor Golubew (1878-1945)is an orientalist , French of Russian origin, specialized in art history and archaeology. From 1890 to 1892 he studied at the Karl May School in Saint Petersburg. Settled in Paris in 1905, he frequented the artistic and literary milieu and met Auguste Rodin who took a keen interest in the arts of Asia. He teaches at the University of Paris. The artist’s multi-volume series on the classical art of the Orient, is illustrated by the theater of the Tibetan people. He became a member of the Academy of Inscriptions and Belles-Lettres, in 1920.
