Description
A small sculpted ceramic dish that depicts a devil or demon emerging from a clam shell. Designed and made by the Danish artist and sculptor Karl Hansen Reistrup who was the artistic leader at Herman A. Khler studio in Denmark from 1888-1900. This makes this piece at least 125 years old. Its condition is pristine and this particular version is executed in coal and ash based glazes popularized by Svend Hammershi during the same era. Hand inscribed beneath its base: HAK (Herman August Khler), Danmark.
