Description
This is a beautiful antique Edwardian mahogany and inlaid nest of tables, circa 1880 in date. The nest consists of a set of three matching interlocking tables, each has a rich flame mahogany ovel inlaid panel surrounded by ebony and boxwood stringing. They are raised on turned legs and splay feet with verso marks for the maker and retailer Gullachsen & Son Ltd, Newcastle on Tyne. This nest of tables is very versatile and ideal for serving tea or cocktails. THE BOTANICAL NAME FOR THE MAHOGANY THESE ITEMS ARE MADE OF IS SWIETENIA MACROPHYLLA AND THIS TYPE OF MAHOGANY IS NOT SUBJECT TO CITES REGULATION.
