A warm and embracing mid century modernist oil composition, painted onto canvas. Falling under the umbrella of genre painting or narrative art, this wonderful painting tells us a story. A group of people sit around a fire, watching a man in a hat play the guitar. Our view point places us (the viewer) very much a within the scene, as if we too are sitting in this circle, listening to the musician. In the forefront we see a couple with the mans arm around his partner. The figures facing are painted in golden light, emitting the warm glow from the crackling fire in front of them. The colours of the fire can also be seen again the musicians hat, face and guitar. The background is an cobalt blue, capturing the essence of the night sky. The painting is housed in a complementary silver frame. Both painting and frame are in very good vintage condition. Size: 63 x 63 cm (including frame)
