Description
Painting on canvas entitled “Chteau de Gros Bois” signed by Augustin Mmin (1910-1981). This French painter, born in Denin, telegraphist at the PTT by profession, executed many paintings during his career, with a dexterity that we recognize in him.
This work represents the Chteau de Gros Bois, listed as a heritage site, located in Boissy-Saint-Lger. It shows the main facade of the building and the wooded parts of the property. The leafless trees seem to have frozen under a cloud-laden winter sky.
This historic estate, now an equestrian center, was built in 1597. It was bought in 1616 by the Duke of Angoulme who gave it its current appearance.
This canvas, selected for the le-de-France prize in 1955, is beautifully highlighted by a beige and golden wooden frame.
Faithfully reproduced, this painting will appeal to art lovers for the sobriety and the colors chosen by the artist.
