Description
A brilliantly executed and richly textured modernist oil composition, painted by the established Swedish artist Max Gregor Carlsson (1914-1996), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the Malm Museum, Eskilstuna Art Museum, Ystads Museum, Norrkping City Collection, the Landskrona Konsthall. Containing elements of abstraction, we can discern a house setting that has been simplified and reduced to blocks of contrasting colours and outlines that help define the contours of the surrounding environment and objects. The artist has deliberately used a restrained palette that allows for a harmonious and balanced color scheme with predominantly black and white hues with subtle hints of purple undertones in certain areas. The masterful use of the impasto technique adds depth and dimension to the painting as well as a textile quality. Each textured and powerful stroke is imbued with a palpable sense of movement and emotion, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the scene. This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary slim black painted wood frame. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition. Size: 47 x 52 cm (including frame)
