Hand-painted ceramic sculpture BATIGNANI Doctor with newborn baby . Italy, 1960s ORIGIN Italy PERIOD 1960s BRAND BATIGNANI Ceramic factory founded by Gastone Batignani in 1907 and active in Bagni di Ripoli, in the province of Florence. The founder’s death was succeeded by his son Renzo, who in turn in 1966 left the business to Alberto, who since then, aided by artisan turners and decorators, has been producing patinated terracotta inspired by the Florentine terracotta tradition alongside the production of decorative and art ceramics. Production continues to this day under the direction of Leonardo Batignani.
