Description

Sculpture “Woman blowing bubbles”, Bronze and marble, Art Nouveau, 1920 – Germany

Refined antique solid bronze sculpture depicting a woman blowing bubbles. This piece is of German origin and dates from around 1920. Deco sculpture abounds in small size pieces that are very decorative and made with excellent materials. This beautiful woman is seated on a pedestal of grayish marble, which contrasts with the dark color of the bronze patina. On the lower part of this marble base there is a gilded bronze border that adds more brilliance to the scene. The young woman, with her left hand, holds a vessel filled with soapy water, and with her right hand she makes a pomp. This pomp is a pearl of another material and color. This contrast in colors is typical of Art Nouveau and Art Deco sculptures of the twentieth century. Her skin is smooth and shiny, and together with her pose and posture she brings a sense of tranquility. Its body is a polished bronze surface with refined forms and hardly any ornamentation, reduced to the essentials.

This piece inspires peace, transporting the viewer to a world where beauty and time were valued and respected. The 1920s were years of luxury and beauty, aesthetics prevailed over functionality and the primary objective was the enjoyment of life surrounded by beauty and pleasure. A small jewel, worthy of the most demanding collector, lover of beauty and refinement.
