An original mid-19th-century watercolour painting, Bears Monogram Myles Birket Foster RWS, The Stile.A very pretty painting in watercolour and gouache, bearing monogram BF. This is most likely by a competent follower of Myles Birket Foster RWS (18251899), who was hugely popular for his sentimentalised watercolours of the English countryside. His work was used to decorate Cadburys chocolate boxes from the 1860s onwards.The attractive feathered foliage and the charming bucolic subject, featuring a small full-faced child, are characteristic of the artist.Presented in an attractive Victorian gilt frame with inscribed gold mount.
