Description
A vibrant and striking mid-century street scene composition, executed in watercolour on paper. The painting depicts a pathway within a housing neighbourhood, surrounded by some lush trees in the background. Containing elements of fauvism, the artist has employed the expressive use of bold and vivid colour to evoke emotions and create visual impact. The nature of watercolour as a medium has been skillfully optimised, as the use of its pigments in concentrated form has produced the vibrant colours of bold orange, yellow and green. The artist has also thoughtfully made the pathway uneven, and has been able to skilfully capture a smooth transition of angles and to produce a delicate aesthetic overall. This watercolour on paper is housed in a slim cream wood frame with a mount card, and is glazed (there is a layer of glass between the frame and the painting to ensure its longevity). The painting is in very good vintage condition, and the mount has some age toning present. Size: 44 x 37 cm (including frame)
