Description
A very charming modernist street scene landscape composition, executed in oil onto canvas. In this scenic view of a quiet neighbourhood filled with houses and surrounded by nature, the artist has intentionally left out realistic detailing and has focused on the play of light, shadows and silhouettes, and has reduced each form down to blocks of contrasting colours. A combination of an uplifting palette as well as confidently executed expressive brushstrokes with light texture fill the canvas, invigorating the painting with an very positive feel. This oil on canvas is housed in a unique ornate frame with an inner cream window. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and there is a small loss to moulding on the top edge of frame (as shown in close up) that is fairly inconspicuous unless closely inspected.
