Description
Traditional Kuba grass textile handmade from the indigenous people of the Congo. Bold geometric patterns created by hand with woven raffia palm fibers in a time-intensive process involving multiple people. Raffia fibers are first striped, kneaded and woven until soft, dyed using natural dye and lastly, decorated with embroidery, appliqus, or patchwork techniques. The art of making these cloths spans from several centuries and various ethnic groups within the Kuba Kingdom with great meaning in every pattern. These eye-catching, beautiful prints are wonderful for display and decor.
