Description
This ceramic jar was designed and produced by Scheurich in West Germany, during the 1950’s.
A very organic and beautiful shape painted in matte black paint with accents in glaze paint of yellow, red and blue. Painted in light yellow inside. with some small chips on the paint. Marked Foreign 99/1.
Scheurich Keramik started production in 1954, which was quite late compared to other West German pottery companies.
Despite this, it soon became the largest producer of commercial art pottery in Germany. Scheurich kept its prices low and combined with the popular designs ensured that millions of turnover. Scheurichs strategy was to provide the same models with different decorations. The designs were adapted twice a year to the changing tastes of the public. Unlike many of its competitors, it is still trading to this day.
